2027 retail calendar for shopping centers: dates and content

A shopping center's retail calendar in Argentina combines national consumer dates, such as Children's Day, Father's Day, Mother's Day and Christmas, with the shopping center's own dates, such as shopping nights and anniversaries. Planning 2027 content starts by marking those dates and deciding which ones deserve an idea of their own.
Below are the 2027 dates in order, with what each one usually calls for in content. Dates that move from year to year are listed with their rule rather than a fixed day. The Hot Sale and CyberMonday dates are announced each year by the Argentine E-Commerce Chamber (CACE), and it is worth confirming them when they are published.
The dates that drive shopping centers in 2027
Valentine's Day: Sunday, February 14.
Back to school: between late February and March, depending on each province's school calendar.
Hot Sale: usually held in May. The exact date is announced by CACE.
Father's Day: third Sunday of June.
Winter holidays: in July, with different dates depending on the province.
Friendship Day: Tuesday, July 20.
Children's Day: third Sunday of August.
Spring and Student's Day: Tuesday, September 21.
Mother's Day: third Sunday of October.
CyberMonday: usually held in late October or early November. The exact date is announced by CACE.
Black Friday: usually held in late November. In Argentina it has no official date, so it is worth confirming it with the participating brands.
Christmas: Saturday, December 25, with the gift season from late November.
Added to that list are the dates each shopping center sets for itself, which are further below.
What the dates from February to May call for
Summer and back to school call for service content: what the shopping center has, which categories cover the school supplies list, the backpack or new clothes. They are long periods, with a lot of information and little room for a big idea, and they are usually handled with clear pieces and a consistent style.
Valentine's Day is short and emotional, and allows more creative pieces for social media. Hot Sale is an e-commerce date. For a shopping center, the opportunity lies in supporting the participating brands and reminding people that many of those offers can also be used in their stores, as long as the brands confirm it.
What the family dates from June to October call for
The family dates are concentrated between June and October: Father's Day, Children's Day and Mother's Day. All three share a challenge: communicating many gift categories without the piece ending up looking like a catalog.
Father's Day at DOT Baires Shopping showed different kinds of fathers, interests and moments. Technology, food, football and entertainment came together in a single story that led to the promotion of the national team Playmobil. For the same date, Alto Rosario ran a graphic campaign with a single line, “Papá te hace la gamba” (“Dad has your back”), resolved for social media and for outdoor according to the distance and reading time of each format. Two different formats with the same starting point: an idea about the relationship, with the gift as a consequence.
Children's Day is experienced as a whole month. Brands with their own characters have an advantage: for Children's Month, MINISO took two of its characters to the screens in its stores, as told in screens at the point of sale. Mother's Day closes the family cycle in October, with the same challenge of organizing many gift categories into a single story.
In September, spring opens the spring-summer season. It works well with pieces that last for weeks without being tied to a specific promotion, like the one for Espacio San Juan.
Year end: Black Friday, CyberMonday and Christmas
From late October to December, CyberMonday, Black Friday and the gift season follow one another. They are weeks of heavy advertising competition, in which a string of discounts gets lost among all the others.
December is planned as a season, with a core idea that carries gifts, extended hours, events and promotions through New Year. More in how to plan Christmas content at the shopping center.
The shopping center's own dates: anniversaries, shopping nights and openings
Besides the national dates, each shopping center has its own calendar: anniversaries, shopping nights with extended hours, brand openings, renovations and on-site events. These are the dates when the shopping center talks only about itself, without competing with the whole market, and that is why it is worth working on them with an idea of their own.
A shopping night can have more than one execution of the same idea, as the case of the three executions of Noche Shopping at DOT shows. And on-site events need an invitation that makes people want to go, as explained in how to promote an event at the shopping center.
How to go from the calendar to a content plan
Mark every date of the year. The national ones, the e-commerce ones and the shopping center's own.
Choose the dates that get their own idea. In general, the ones that drive the shopping center most and the ones with the most competition.
Define the outputs for each date. Main video, versions for social media, pieces for the center's own screens and print.
Set a start date for each production. Besides the on-air date, when the idea has to be approved.
Leave spare capacity. For what was not in the plan: an opening that moves forward, a sporting event, a rainy day.
How all of a shopping center's content is organized across the year is in the guide to video for shopping centers.
Frequently asked questions
When is Children's Day in Argentina?
Children's Day is celebrated in Argentina on the third Sunday of August, also in 2027. For a shopping center, the date is usually worked on as a whole month, with content from early August. It is worth having the idea approved before the winter holidays, to produce with some margin.
How far in advance is the content for a retail date produced?
It depends on the date and how many pieces it includes. A date with its own idea, a main video, versions for social media and pieces for screens needs the idea approved before production starts, and approvals with dates. It is worth marking on the annual calendar when production starts for each date, as well as when it goes on air.
Which dates are worth working on with an idea of their own?
The ones that drive the shopping center most and the ones with the most advertising competition: in general, Father's Day, Children's Day, Mother's Day and Christmas, plus the center's own dates such as shopping nights or anniversaries. There, an idea of its own keeps the piece from getting lost among discount ads. Smaller dates can be handled with simpler pieces in the same style.
How is the shopping center's calendar coordinated with the brands' calendars?
The shopping center speaks as a brand in its own right and at the same time shows the brands it has inside. To coordinate, it is worth defining the idea for each date from the shopping center's side and leaving room for the brands to appear within it, with products, promotions or benefits. In DOT Baires Shopping's Father's Day, different product categories came together in a single story.
